Reflection ScreenR . . .

We have been asked to create a ScreenR about a reflection, i wrote about my person thoughts on what i believe works for me and other reflection tools. My presentation is around 6 minutes long.

Game ...

We were asked to create our own game to be played within the Edge Lane building, this was a fun activity which i really enjoyed, i was paired with Carlie Anne and we created a game called Foot Rollover which was basically a app that is projected onto the floor and contained different games that could be played in a realist form. Foot Roolover was a game that players had to be active to play. We also made a Prezzi to go with the game and was presented to the rest of our peers.

Lego Serious Play . . .

Lego Serious Play was an effective workshop which i think as a class we all benefited from. It showed us what our strengths and weaknesses are, we talked about what would we as individuals bring to a team? Mine was impulsive which can be seen as both a strenghts and a weakness. As an overall i really enjoyed the workshop and i think it would be a good ice breaker in both work and university.

Game Playing ...

In our Contemporary Media Issue this week were split ourselves into groups and were asked to play various games. The games ranged from classics such as board games (Kerplunk) to top of the range apps on IPad’s. The game my group chose was possibly the most simple out of them all, which was “Who am I” we found this very enjoyable. Other groups played games such as COD which mostly attracted the males in the class, due to the violence content of the game. It was interesting to see the appeal of different games to both the male and females in the class. Some of the games such as the games on the WII, it brought out a competitive side in some, unlike the game our group was playing as there isn’t a clear winner unlike computerised games. This class was an introduction to our new assisment 'Play' .

Film Language ....

Swimming Pool is one of my favorite films that has been screened within out Film Language lectures, i enjoyed the simplicity and the metanarrative of the plot, which creates a intelligent twist to the overall narrative.

Film Language . . .

Film Language is one of my favorite lectures, upto now we have covered the following; Mise en scene, Cinematography, Editing, Sound, Narrative and Narration, Plot, Story and Structure all of which i feel i have a good understanding. Also we have been assessed on a scene analysis which i found helpful for the fact i was able to test my knowledge on all the above.

Creativity and Concept . . .

Within Creativity and Concept we have looked at several techniques on thought and concept, which has been very interesting to review. We have looked at random images/ de Bono cards, Eno cards and brainbox. All of which are to help trigger the mind and personal creativity. Within session 5 we looked at Scamper and created concepts for Snow Inc which helped us as groups and individuals to control our mind thought and creativity techniques  which i personally enjoyed. Session 6 was based on peoples behavior and how we can create something that can benefit people, our idea was; an anonymous based screen of though, basically each person in the class has some form of keyboard and when a question is asked, the class will type there ideas and thoughts into the keyboard and will appear on a large board at the front of the class, therefore all ideas are shared and people wont feel intimidated or pressurised.

We were grouped into small groups and provided with a text to examine (The Medium is the Massage) we were then asked to read the book and create a Wiki and a Prezzi presentation which describes the book. This task was very interesting due to the information i found whilst researching the book, such as the meaning of the text and the people involved with the text such as Stelios Arcadiou who i found very interesting.

MoFilm . . .

MoFilm come in for a workshop were we were all grouped of and asked to make an short film from around 15-30 seconds long for an advertisement for Indian, out group produced an idea which stuck to the brief. This workshop helped us experiment and have fun with the concept.

Contemporary Media Issues, we were asked to bring in a news article and mine was based on the contestants of the show X Factor. The article was grouped and categorised with other students in my class who also had articles based on reality television such as The Only Way is Essex. Brain Box . . .

Creativity and Concept, session 3 - this session mad each of us think in both original and random ways, we were giving de Bono cards, (random images and words) and we giving groups to work with and to think "outside the box" and to think of ideas using the words and images giving to us.

Flicker... Paris image

We were asked to take images of everyday objects and edit the images and add to Flicker, my image was of a busy street in Paris, I love the image I chosen as I believe is shows the true beauty of the city. The editing I chose to do on the image was not very drastic as I only played with colour balance and contrast, although I believe it makes the image more dramatic. http://www.flicker.com/

Storyboard . . .

The task for the storyboard was to take a collection of images with our group to create a narrative, our idea was a girl who is killed via some sort of voodoo spell, our group put much effort into this task and all played a significant role to produce a effective storyboard.

Important Item ... Ipod

We were asked to being in our own important item that has meaning and value of some sort, I brought in my Ipod as it is very important to me as music is my passion. Then the class was sectioned into groups at random, the task was to discuss your own objects and try to find connections and links to each others and then create a presentation to share with the class.

Media is such a huge element of everyday life and is something i find very interesting. My main intrest in the media industry is music and film, i have never created my own film although i hope to have the option to soon, in the future i would like my knowledge and understanding of the film and music based industrey to increase and therefore hopefully gain a job within the industry.
